Coinaris ("we", "the app") helps you identify coins and estimate their collector value from photos you take. This policy explains what we handle and what we don't.
When you scan a coin, the photos are sent to our processing server solely to identify the coin and estimate its value. We keep your coin photos on our server for up to 30 days, only to check and improve how well the app recognises coins, and then delete them automatically. They are stored with the random device identifier only, never with your name or anything that identifies you, and are never used to train AI models or shared with anyone. To perform the identification, the photos are passed to our AI provider, Google, through the paid tier of its Gemini API. Google keeps prompts and responses for a limited period solely to detect and prevent abuse, and does not use them to improve or train its models. For coins we cannot identify from reference data alone, the app may also run a Google Search using words derived from the coin — its country, denomination and date. Those searches contain no information about you and never include your photos. We never share your photos with anyone else.
Coinaris has no account or login. We do not collect your name, email, contacts, location, browsing history, or any personal identifiers. Your saved coin collection is stored only on your device, not on our servers.
To operate the service and prevent abuse, our server processes a randomly generated device identifier and standard request metadata (e.g. timestamp). This is not linked to your identity.
To understand how the app is used and improve it, Coinaris sends anonymous usage events to our own server (no third-party analytics SDKs): screens viewed, scans started and completed, paywall views, and purchase or trial events. Each event carries the same randomly generated device identifier and a per-launch session identifier — never your name, email, or anything that identifies you personally. These events are not shared with anyone and are not used to track you across other apps or websites.
You can turn analytics off at any time in Settings → Anonymous product analytics. Analytics events are retained for up to 24 months.
Purchases are handled by Apple and our subscription provider (RevenueCat). We receive anonymous subscription status only. We never see or store your payment details — those are handled entirely by Apple.
Google: coin identification is performed via the paid tier of Google's Gemini API, which may also run a Google Search on words derived from the coin. Photos and identification results are transmitted securely; Google retains them for a limited period solely to detect and prevent abuse, does not use them to improve or train its models, and then deletes them. RevenueCat: subscription management; receives an anonymous app-user identifier and purchase state from Apple, never your payment details or photos. Apple: processes all payments under its own privacy policy.
Coin photos: kept on our server for up to 30 days, then deleted automatically; retained by Google for a limited abuse-detection period, then deleted. Anonymous analytics events: up to 24 months on our servers. Anonymous request logs: up to 12 months. Your saved collection lives only on your device and is removed when you delete the app. To request deletion of the data tied to your device, email support@sidelabs.dev and we will help you identify and remove it.
Coinaris is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from them.
Value ranges and condition (grade) estimates shown in the app are automated, photo-based estimates for general information only. They are not an appraisal, certified grading, or investment advice. Actual value depends on condition, authenticity and the market.
